Discord Mandating Age Verification for All Users Starting March of 2026

UPDATE: The Discord platform has announced its upcoming policy change, which will require all users to verify their age before joining the server. This requirement applies to everyone, including underage users.

This new rule comes after reports of illegal activity on Discord, such as gambling, cyberbullying, and hate speech. The company claims that these changes are necessary for maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all members.

The exact implementation date is set for March 2026, with the verification process being mandatory for all accounts created from January 1, 2026 onwards. Users who have already joined the server prior to this date will be required to complete the verification process by March 2026.

Users who cannot provide valid ID documentation may be banned from the server or forced to wait until the verification period is complete. This new rule is expected to increase the number of verified users and reduce the risk of harmful activities on the platform.

The Discord team has also mentioned that they will be working with law enforcement agencies to ensure that the verification process is effective and that users are given adequate time to comply with the requirements.
