How to Make Roasted Duck the French Way
Enjoy this classic French dish that combines rich flavors and elegant presentation.
Ingredients
- 1 whole duck (around 4-5 kg)
- 1 head of green garlic
- 1 sprig of parsley
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of thyme
- Salt and pepper
- 1 cup of red wine
- 1 cup of white wine
- 2 cups of chicken broth
- 1/2 cup of flour
- 1 tsp of nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan. Add the green garlic, parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pan.
- Film the duck with oil and place it in the oven. Pour the red wine into the roasting pan and cover it with foil.
- Boil the chicken broth in a separate pot and let it simmer until it reaches boiling point. Let it cook for about 1 hour.
- Add the flour and nutmeg to the pan and stir until everything is well combined. Transfer the mixture to the oven and roast for about 1 hour.
- After the duck is done, remove it from the oven. Pour off the juices and return the duck to the oven. Bake for an additional 30 minutes.
- Let the duck rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Note: The roasted duck should be served with a side of bread and a salad to complement its richness.
